    Job Summary

    The Scheduling Specialist provides services to Hope support recipients through their work in providing administrative support to the scheduling function of all Anchorage Community Supports. This includes providing support to Anchorage teams in identifying vacant positions and open shifts to fill with on-call staff, on-demand support specialists, and staff seeking hours. The Scheduling Specialist acts as the liaison between Human Resources and staffing supervisors to ensure personnel needs are effectively met. In direct scheduling, this position assures staff cross training as necessary and weekend coverages as required. The Scheduling Specialist is responsible to understand the unique staffing needs for Anchorage Community Supports, including regular and intermediate support level needs, and maintains functional authority over scheduling conflicts that may arise across Anchorage Community Supports. This position is also responsible for navigating the evolving direct support staffing needs associated with Anchorage Community Support networks. The Scheduling Specialist maintains loyalty to the organization, its beliefs, values, mission, vision, and expectations and to the recipients of services.


    Job Duties:

    1. Ensures direct support staff and other Mission Critical staffing needs are met through appropriate staffing for the locations associated with Anchorage Community Supports. This requires coverage for schedules across a seven day work week.
    2. Supervises, develops, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines On Call and On Demand staff through teaching, coaching and mentoring. Collaborates in all aspects of onboarding personnel to fulfill department requirements.
    3. Schedules staff in alignment with services delineated in the Plan of Care and/or support plans and within service delivery requirements.
    4. Maintains knowledge of work flow within team environments and support recipients to assure person directed placements are made in the most efficient means possible. Makes recommendations for scheduling adjustments as needed.
    5. Assures all staff associated with Anchorage Community Supports are scheduled within the Agency authorized scheduling tool. Supports Anchorage Community Support Supervisors with data entry into scheduling software.
    6. Utilizes the Human Resource Information Systems software tool to effectively monitor timekeeping for On-Call staff and On-Demand Support Specialists.
    7. Meets with supervisors regarding staffing needs and collaborates with other Scheduling Specialists, Hiring Specialists, and HR Business Partners to respond accordingly to effective talent management and staffing levels in order to maximize use of Agency personnel resources.
    8. Monitors and ensures direct report staff training compliance, including home and support recipient specific trainings, as well as compliance with employment related documents.



    • Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field required. Experience may be substituted in lieu of education on a two for one basis.
    • Two (2) years’ progressively responsible administrative work experience required, one (1) of which must be held in a supervisory capacity.




    • Possesses a valid Alaska driver’s license and has at least three (3) years of driving experience (may include permit time). Obtains a driving record at time of employment, annually thereafter, and as requested by management.
    • Ability to safely operate Agency vehicles when needed. Possesses reliable transportation and vehicle insurance when transporting support recipients or conducting Agency business.
    • Meets State and Agency requirements for passing a criminal background check upon hire and as required thereafter.
    • Lifts 25 pounds from a squat and kneel position on the floor.
    • Works at a desk/computer workstation for a minimum of six (6) hours per day.
    • Completes all required State, Agency, department, and position specific training as assigned.
    • Obtains a tuberculin clearance at time of employment and annually thereafter.
