    Job Summary:


    The Internal Auditor I provides services to Hope support recipients through their work managing household and personal funds for support recipients living in Hope Assisted Living Homes. The Internal Auditor I utilizes a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of Hope staff in managing support recipients’ funds, always acting in an independent, objective, and confidential manner. This position interacts with Hope employees, support recipients, support recipient parents/guardians, and payees to assure the financial resources of support recipient are accounted for properly and accurately. The Internal Auditor I maintains loyalty to the organization, its beliefs, values, mission, vision, and expectations and to the recipients of services.


    Job Duties:


    Essential Job Duties


    •  Works with management and guardians to ensure a system is in place to ensure financial resources for support recipients residing in Hope Assisted Living Homes across the State of Alaska are accounted for properly, to include the recipients’ distribution and reconciliation of funds.
    •  Records transactions and completes monthly bank reconciliations for each bank account assigned to an Assisted Living Home.
    •  Prepares and sends Home Resource Reports to parents/guardians quarterly, unless requested otherwise.
    •  Organizes and reconciles the Home Resource Reports and notifies the appropriate supervisor, along with the Audit Manager, of any discrepancies.
    •  Performs all audit and reconciliation work using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed.
    •  Reviews and reports on the accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of the home resource data and other information that is provided for management.
    •  Educates service delivery supervisors and designated employees responsible for support recipient’s funds about the Agency’s policies and procedures related to Home Resources/Internal Audit.
    •  Maintains a record of the Home Resource Reports, to include filing and archiving.


    Job Requirements:


    Education and Experience


    •  High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
    •  Two years of work experience in banking, accounting, business or a related field required.



    • Experience utilizing QuickBooks preferred
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs. from a squat-and-kneel position
    • Possess a valid Alaska driver license and proof of insurance
    • Provide driving record that meets agency guidelines
    •  Meets State and Agency requirements for passing a criminal background check upon hire and as required thereafter.
