    Overview

    The Director of Information Technology (IT) provides services to Hope support recipients through their work in directing the operations of Hope’s computer systems, networks, programs, infrastructure, help-desk support, databases, and other technologies; ensuring resources are securely available to the necessary persons. This position advises others, including Executive Management, on key technological strategies to enhance and improve business processes that meet strategic objectives and initiatives in supporting the overall mission of Hope. This position is responsible for all of the computer hardware and software technology at Hope; including budgeting, planning, organizing, implementing, testing, maintaining and monitoring all associated activities. The Director of IT is responsible for oversight of employees and independent contractors whose work includes areas of IT systems and/or security. As a senior leader of Hope, this position participates in Agency executive management, planning, and operation functions; conducts staff meetings; attends meetings of the Board of Directors and appropriate Board committees; and represents the organization in conferences, meetings, and public events. The Director of IT has a responsibility to support and promote the Agency's focus and commitment to service delivery activities and development of its human resources.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and implements IT management strategies including maintaining current IT policies and procedures and assists with the development of policies and procedures as needed for compliance with applicable licenses, laws, and regulations.
    • Contributes and makes recommendations for multi-year planning and maintenance of the organization's data technology operations, including computer hardware, software, and telecommunications.
    • Participates in the evaluation, development, and recommendation of solutions specific to the entire organization as well as specific solutions for individual departments, ensuring compliance with applicable security protocols.
    • Oversees and is responsible for Agency-wide database creation, implementation, and management, and backup/recovery systems. Coordinates and schedules the transition from existing to new platforms and systems, within the assigned budget and timelines. 
    • Monitors the needs of the organization for the newest technology. Works with organizational leaders to develop technology plans, policies, and procedures in alignment with company goals and standards. Assists with monitoring the utilization and efficiency of technology.
    • Provides accurate information to the Controller to assist with budget planning. Manages expenses and exercises cost control to remain within budgetary guidelines. Provides a five year project plan annually for new and replacement capital needs.
    • Develops and monitors IT tools and monthly reporting systems to ensure required tasks are met and quality performance is occurring along pre-established timelines.
    • Supervises, develops, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines staff through teaching, coaching and mentoring. Collaborates in all aspects of onboarding personnel to fulfill department requirements.
    • Supervises and manages the local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and internet accesses that are utilized at all Hope locations and homes.

    Qualifications

    Required:

     

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming, Data Processing Systems, or related field required. Experience in lieu of education may be accepted on a two for one basis in appropriate fields.
    • Seven (7) years' of experience working in Information Technology required; with two years of upper level work experience in the IT management and supervisory capacity required. Two (2) years' of hands on work experience in networking, servers, and database design and support including TCP/IP networking, Windows Server 2008/2012, Exchange Server 2010/2013, SQL Server 2008R2/2012, Cisco IOS configuration (routers, switches, VPN, firewall), database design and support required. Knowledge of HTML, Java, Microsoft GP, Backup Exec, MAC OS, VMware, and/or Kronos preferred.  

    Other:

    • Possesses a valid Alaska Driver’s license and has at least three years of driving experience (may include permit time). Obtains a driving record at time of employment, annually thereafter, and as requested by management.
    • Ability to safely operate Agency vehicles when needed. Possesses reliable transportation and vehicle insurance when transporting support recipients or conducting Agency business.
    • Meets State and Agency requirements for passing a criminal background check upon hire and as required thereafter. 
    • Lifts 25 pounds from a squat and kneel position on the floor.
    • Works at a desk/computer workstation for a minimum of six (6) hours per day.
