  • Overview

    We are currently searching for energetic and caring people who want to enhance the lives of people experiencing disabilities!  Join our team as a Lead Individual Support Specialist, where you will provide direct support to individuals who experience developmental and physical disabilities while supervising Individual Support Specialists who are scheduled to work in the home.  This position focuses on teaching and modeling skills that foster independence and community integration and developing staff schedules to meet the needs of individuals living in the home. 

     

    This position may require the Lead Individual Support Specialist work in a variety of 8-hour shifts during the week in order to be present in the home during all shifts.

    Responsibilities

    A Lead ISS must be comfortable with:

     

    ► Being an exemplary direct support professional and supervising other staff in the home

    ► Verifying, approving and quality assuring timecards, daily notes and records of supports provided

    ► Teaching and providing all aspects personal care

    ► Performing light housekeeping duties to ensure the home is clean and safe

    ► Transporting clients to and from personal appointments and community events

    ► Administering medications as needed

     

    We provide paid classroom and on-the-job training. it is not necessary for applicants to have prior experience, just a positive attitude and willingness to learn!

    Qualifications

    Required:

     

    • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Health or Social Science, Special Education or other related field PREFERRED but not required. Emphasis study in developmental disabilities preferred.

    AND

     

    • Two (2) years of direclyt related exprience REQUIRED.
    • One (1) year supervisory and administrative experience strongly PREFERRED.

     

    Other:

    • Valid AK driver license, responsible driving record and proof of vehicle insurance
    • Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks
    • Ability to lift 35 lbs, or 1/3 of body weight, whichever is less, on a regular basis
    • Must be 21 years or older
