    Behavioral/Mental Health Associates (B/MHA) at the this assisted living home are responsible for providing support to individuals who experience dementia, as well as co-occurring mental health diagnosis. B/MHA's at the home are responsible for providing care to individuals in the least intrusive manner, assuring skills are maintained for as long as possible. B/MHA's are required to assist people to engage in desired community activities to enhance quality of life, as well as work within the structure of the home to provide personal care and medical assistance as needed.



    1. Supports the individual and family in designing the social/recreation component of the Treatment Plan; helps individual receiving support adapt to home and community environments.
    2. Implements one-on-one and grouped therapeutic techniques, activities and events that aid the individual in maintaining specific communications, cognitive, social independence or community skills.
    3. Provides supervision, monitoring and appropriate therapeutic interventions in a grouped or one on one setting during activities and events.
    4. Facilitates natural support connections within the community; creates and maintains a comprehensive file of community social/recreational and resources for use with activities.
    5. Models positive communications and promotes community connections with individuals.



    • High School Diploma required
    • Bachelor's degree preferred


    • Two (2) years experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors required.



    • Direct experience working with people who experience dementia
    • Direct experience providing personal care
    • Direct experience working within a medical setting
    • Ability to demonstrate understanding of concepts of generalization and normalization, least restrictive environments, interdisciplinary team, and behavior modification, and the tools used


    • Ability to lift 35 lbs, or 1/3 of body weight, whichever is less, from a squat-and-kneel position
    • Possess a valid driver license & at least 1 year of driving experience (may include permit time)
    • Provide driving record that meets agency guidelines
    • Pass a criminal background check under state regulation
