    The Family Network Assistant Coordinates and executes the internal and external communications efforts of the Child and Family Supports (CFS) team. This position ensures communication flow through proficient, timely, and accurate dissemination of information to all Hope stakeholders including parents and/or guardians, department staff, and all other Agency programs. The Family Network Assistant ensures excellent customer service is delivered to stakeholders by creating and maintaining a professional atmosphere in appearance, work product, and interpersonal exchanges. Their outreach efforts and activities are directed towards all families of children with special needs as well as affiliated partners. Outreach includes drafting emails, newsletters, and collateral materials for the CFS stakeholders; as well as distribution of information and events through approved social media platforms intended to attract and engage families.


    1. Provides internal and external communications support to the Child & Family Supports (CFS) team, including answering and routing telephone calls, taking messages, ensuring follow-up, and providing routine information to parents and/or guardians in a timely and value driven manner
    2. Prepares and distributes all departmental information and materials to include forms, flyers, monthly newsletters, greeting cards and other materials, as required.
    3. Handles department-sensitive information and circumstances, up to and including crisis situations, in an efficient and calm manner, utilizing appropriate HIPAA and confidentiality practices, while providing excellent customer service.
    4. Anticipates and coordinates communication needs for department stakeholders through direct oral and written communications and reports.
    5. Prepares and generates reports from information and data gathered from various selected sources, using independent judgment based on general instructions, as requested.
    6. Generates, edits and shares daily content that builds meaningful connections with families of children with disabilities and optimizes CFS's social media visibility.
    7. Collaborates with PR and other departments to develop, create, and edit content. Manages social networking and outreach opportunities for the CFS team.
    8. Ensures compliance with graphic standards and continuity of Hope’s communications and application of HIPAA laws and compliance as related to communications and media production.




    • Associate’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, or related field required. Experience in lieu of education may be accepted on a two for one basis in appropriate fields.



    • Two years of experience supporting a department or work group of at least 20 people in an administrative capacity required. Experience providing administrative support in disability services preferred.



    • Possesses a valid Alaska driver’s license and has at least three years of driving experience (may include permit time).
    • Meets State and Agency requirements for passing a criminal background check upon hire and as required thereafter.
    • Lifts 25 pounds from a squat and kneel position on the floor.
    • Works at a desk/computer workstation for a minimum of six hours per day.
    • Completes all required State, Agency, department, and position specific training as assigned.
    • Obtains a tuberculin clearance at time of employment and annually thereafter.
