    The Relief Behavioral Health Associate (RBHA) provides services to Hope support recipients through their work in an Assisted Living Home where support recipients have challenging behaviors. The RBHA replaces the Behavioral Health Home Alliance Coordinator (BHHAC) on a short-term basis when the permanent live-in has days off and is responsible for oversight of the home during this time. The RBHA in this assisted living home is responsible for providing support to individuals who experience dementia, as well as co-occurring mental health diagnosis. The RBHA at the home is responsible for providing care to individuals in the least intrusive manner, assuring skills are maintained for as long as possible.  The RBHA ensures the health and safety of support recipients and provides a range of services.  This position includes teaching of living skills, social and communication skills, and other needed life skills for social independence and community inclusion. The RBHA leads the team of direct support employees who work in the home, ensuring the implementation of the Plan of Care and/or support plan and behavioral health protocols. This position is responsible for being in the home unless accompanying an individual out into the community, conducting Agency business, on approved time away or on designated days off.



    1. Provides oversight of the home when the BHHAC has days off.
    2. Ensures completion of shift tasks by direct support employees. Reports issues to the BHHAC for follow-up. Shares all pertinent information with the BHHAC before taking time off.
    3. Ensures wholesome meal preparation, focusing on individual dietary needs and healthy personal and cultural preferences.
    4. Ensures appropriate cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of physical site (home and grounds) and home vehicle.
    5. Provides personal care and support services required for each support recipient, including, but not limited to, activities of daily living and community activities. Ensures each individual participates safely in a wide range of age-appropriate activities. Ensures goals and objectives are being worked on as outlined in the Plan of Care and/or support plan and behavioral health protocols.
    6. Provides transportation to meet support recipients’ schedules, including public transportation and rides to work, appointments, and activities
    7. Implements and executes staff, support recipient, and transportation schedules as outlined by the HAC.
    8. Monitors support recipients’ health and ensures each support recipient follows medical orders and medication instructions, under the direction of the support recipient’s physician and/or Hope nursing staff. Accompanies and participates in medical appointments as necessary. Accesses emergency services as needed.
    9. Completes and processes Agency documentation within required timeframes, including the timely submission of all maintenance requests, vehicle safety checklists and accident reports, monthly home reports, and incident reports.



    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Bacherlor's Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Health or Social Science, Special Education or other related field preferred.



    • Two (2) year's of expereince working with individuals who experience challenging behaviors required.



    • Ability to lift 35 lbs, or 1/3 of body weight, whichever is less, on a regular basis
    • Must be 21 years or older, per State of Alaska regulations
    • Possess a valid driver license & at least 1 year of driving experience (may include permit time)
    • Provide driving record that meets agency guidelines
    • Pass a criminal background check under state regulation
