    Job Summary:


    The Purchasing Assistant provides services to Hope support recipients through their work performing a variety of activities essential to the Agency through the procurement of goods and services, quality assurance, and general office duties. This position is responsible for preparing monthly reports, issuing and processing purchase orders, organizing travel arrangements, monitoring inventory control and completing projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager. The Purchasing Assistant may work directly with individuals supported by the Agency and requires a high degree of customer service with both internal and external customers. This position performs duties with a high degree of accuracy, dependability and professional judgment. The Purchasing Assistant maintains loyalty to the organization, its beliefs, values, mission, vision, and expectations and to the recipients of services.


    Job Duties:


    • Follows all internal controls when receiving purchase orders and travel requests.
    • Reconciles monthly purchasing card statement and completes follow-up with required receipts as needed.
    • Utilizes the accounting system software to process all purchase orders including issuing, logging, routing and matching orders.
    • Completes travel arrangements as authorized. Communicates itineraries and other travel information with applicable parties and works closely with the Executive Assistant regarding upcoming travel.
    • Monitors and reconciles inventory monthly.




    • High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
    • Experience in lieu of education may be accepted on a two for one basis in appropriate fields.



    • Two years of experience in Purchasing or related field required.


    Additional Requirements

    • Possesses a valid Alaska Driver’s license and has at least one year of driving experience (may include permit time).
    • Able to safely operate Agency vehicles when needed.
    • Meets State and Agency requirements for passing a criminal background check upon hire and as required thereafter.
    • Lifts 35 pounds from a squat and kneel position on the floor.
