    Overview

    The Internal Auditor provides quality assurance and consulting activities designed to add value and improve overall operations of the Agency. This position collects, schedules, and tests audit data and reports relevant findings to management. The Internal Auditor performs all duties in an independent, objective, and confidential manner, and displays interest in learning new processes and maintains flexibility. The Internal Auditor maintains loyalty to the organization, its beliefs, values, mission, vision, and expectations, and to the recipients of services.

    Responsibilities

    1. Collects information, develops data schedules, and researches and analyzes data collected for accuracy and reasonableness.
    2. Reviews Agency processes for Medicaid and Licensing Regulation compliance and reports on audit findings.
    3. Conducts audit procedures including planning, sampling, testing, and reporting. Maintains knowledge of accounting principles, Medicaid regulations, and procedures of record keeping and reporting.
    1. Identifies, develops, documents, and reports audit issues using independent judgment.
    2. Reports to management on the policies, programs, and activities of audits performed.
    3. Identifies areas of Agency risk and reports them to management, providing recommendations on the related findings.
    4. Drafts audit reports, outlines audit processes, and provides recommendations to management.
    5. Assists the Agency in maintaining accreditation.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.

    Experience:

    • Two years of experience in accounting, business, or administrative work experience required OR an equivalent combination of related education and/or work exprience.
    • Experience in an audit capacity preferred.

    Other

    • Possesses a valid Alaska driver’s license and has at least one year of driving experience (may include permit time). Obtains a driving record at time of employment, annually thereafter, and as requested by management.
    • Meets State and Agency requirements for passing a criminal background check upon hire and as required thereafter.
    • Lifts 25 pounds from a squat and kneel position on the floor.
    • Works at desk/computer workstation for a minimum of six hours per day.
    • Completes all required State, Agency, department, and position specific training as assigned.
    • Obtains a tuberculin clearance at time of employment and annually thereafter.
